Lose That Belly Fat!

When researching the best methods to lose belly fat quickly I discovered a market filled with a mishmash of information. I came to the quick conclusion most of these articles, diets, and exercise programs are only there to make a buck, and the heck with losing belly fat.

I read that the only way to lose belly fat quickly was to exercise. Then I read how exercise will not cause you to lose the belly fat. Then I found abdominal machines that will give me six pack abs. I guess I can eat anything and drink beer all day if I use these machines.

So…I decided to sit down with a very good friend of mine which happens to be a world renowned homeopathic physician with patients around the globe. I appreciate the time out he took from writing his new Materia Medica to meet with me.

I am going to try to be short and concise with the information gleaned from Dr. Hussain.  He threw a bunch of medical jargon at me that I half understood, but still found informative.

Here are some reasons that lead to being overweight:

  1. Overworked liver.    Processed foods and alcohol being the biggest offenders.
  2. Stress.    A big producer of cortisol which along with a deficient liver are known to create a fat haven in the belly.
  3. Sugars.    Not just candy bars. Many so called healthy foods break down to sugars which spike your insulin levels, tricking your body to store fat.
  4. Eating the wrong foods.    This is the “good carb” vs. “bad carb” argument.  Many a diet plan revolves around this topic.

What surprised me the most was the exclusion of exercise. So I asked him his opinion on this. To paraphrase it went something like this; “Exercise is not relevant to your body’s requirements. Everyone in America thinks they have to go to the gym. Most of the world’s population is much thinner and they don’t exercise at all. They walk more, eat better, and suffer from less stress. Muscle increases your metabolism more than cardio workouts. So when you are done running your metabolism shuts down. So just walk and have a varied weight program.”

Well, it was hard to argue with that. So my question was simply,” How do you lose belly fat quickly?”

Answer: “No sugars, no processed food, set some time aside each day to meditate. You would be far better off meditating for an hour than exercising for an hour. Do a liver detox. Walk every day, not for exercise, but for a different point of view.”

With this information in hand I went searching for a healthy choice plan (NOT A DIET) that fell into step with my friend’s advice. I have to admit it took me awhile, but  HERE IT IS.

It has been three weeks now and I have lost 27 lbs. I think the detox is aiding in this process as well, but I am feeling better every day, sleeping better, and I definitely have conquered the cravings that plagued me in the evenings.
